Bishkek : The Kyrgyz parliament approved on Wednesday Zhantoro Satybaldiyev as the country’s new Prime Minister. The decision was taken by an overwhelming majority of deputies of Parliament.
An absolute majority of MPs also determined the structure, approved the program and members of the government, which is composed of 15 ministries and one committee. There will be two new deputy prime ministers and five ministers in the ministry of agriculture, foreign affairs, social development, finance, and energy.
The new prime minister said economic situation in Kyrgyzstan is still difficult. He stressed that there are many problems in agriculture, and the industrial sector also need to be developed. “We need to urgently review the current budget year. We have all the conditions for the development of the economy, improving the living conditions of the people,” said Satybaldiev.
The President of Kyrgyzstan has signed a decree appointing the prime minister and cabinet ministers.
Until now, the 56-year-old new Prime Minister has served as head of the Presidential Administration of Kyrgyzstan. Previously, he had headed the Department of Transport, Directorate for reconstruction of Osh and Jalal-Abad, used to be mayor of the city of Osh, and governor of the Osh oblast.
Kyrgyzstan has a parliamentary form of government. Full executive power belongs to the Prime Minister of the Republic. Under the constitution, the president determines the foreign policy of Kyrgyzstan.
