Guwahati: As of Thursday there were 239,725 people still living in 217 camps according to the latest government report. A copy of the report that is with TwoCircles.net gives 20,152 as count of Bodos living in camps whereas 219,573 is the number of Muslims and others still in camps. Camp population was 485,921 at its peak.
However, looking at the numbers it is obvious that most of those who have returned back to their homes are Bodos. Muslims still fear going back to their villages and homes.
Dhubri district has 1,46,091 in 132 camps with only 7 camps closed so far.
