Project to shorten distance between Delhi, Ghaziabad approved

By IANS,

Ghaziabad : The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA), in its 130th board meeting Monday, approved an elevated road project to shorten the distance between Delhi and Ghaziabad, officials said.

The ambitious project concerns building an elevated road from UP gate (on the National Highway 24) to the Northern peripheral Expressway passing through the Hindon-cut canal in the Vaishali, Vasundhara and Raj Nagar Extension areas in Ghaziabad.

“The project would cost between Rs.750 to 800 crore but would sharply cut the distance between Delhi and Ghaziabad,” said Satosh Yadav, chairman-cum-vice chairman of the authority.

At present, the UP gate is over 30 km from the zero point of Northern Expressway but after the construction of the proposed elevated road, the distance would be shortened to 18 km and that too hassle-free without any red light and crossing. It would hardly take 10 minutes from the city to UP gate which would be nearer to the national capital time- and kilometre-wise, added Yadav while addressing the press conference.
