New Delhi : The government Monday suspended six senior Airports Authority of India officials who have been found to be involved in irregularities in awarding ground handling services contract to a private firm.
“The enquiry into award of contract for ground handling services at airports found that the officers of the AAI made certain deviations from the commercial manual in the notice inviting tender (NIT),” the civil aviation ministry said in a statement.
According to the ministry, a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry found the officials involved in irregularities in awarding contracts for ground handling services at Chennai and Kolkata Airports to Bhadra International India.
“It has also been decided that action may be initiated against Bhadra International India for cancellation of the contract and recovery of dues,” the statement said.
Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh has also ordered filing of first information reports (FIR) against Prem Bajaj of Bhadra International and others AAI officials including retired ones under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
