We’ll expose Hooda government’s land scams: INLD

By IANS,

Chandigarh : With various courts ruling on land allotments made in Haryana in recent years, the opposition Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) Monday announced that it would expose the land scams in the state in which the Bhupinder Singh Hooda government had a role.

“The INLD has decided to expose the Haryana government’s various scams, especially those where it connived with builders and realtors. These scams have been ripped off by the Supreme Court and Punjab and Haryana High court in various judgments to which not only the government but also the Congress high command is also watching as a mute spectator,” INLD Secretary General Ajay Singh Chautala said here Monday.

Chautala said: “It seems that the government failed to take a lesson from the court judgments on Gurgaon, Jhajjar and Rohtak land deals and still committed grave crime by converting prime agriculture land purchased by former minister Gopal Kanda’s cronies only a few days ago. The government, in a shameless manner, not only converted this land but also overturned the draft development plan of Gurgaon-Manesar urban complex.”

He demanded that land scams during the tenure of the Hooda government be probed by a sitting Supreme Court judge.

“If probed properly by a sitting Supreme Court judge, it will prove to be mother of all scams in the state. It’s a much bigger scam than the recent coalgate and the 2G scam,” Chautala said.

“Here is a case that is an ideal example of state’s intention to rob the farmers. Kanda created a dummy firm in the name of those who are from a humble background. Then this benami firm purchased huge chunks of agriculture land at prime locations in Gurgaon. Following the purchase, this dummy firm proposed to raise a housing complex to rob the municipal corporation, Gurgaon, that then came under the local bodies department headed by Kanda himself,” he pointed out.

“Unfortunately, since Kanda had to go to jail in the Geetika Sharma suicide case, this responsibility fell on the shoulders of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who gladly not only changed the land use but also overturned the Gurgaon master plan to benefit Kanda and other Congress leaders with billions of rupees,” Chautala added.

Accusing the Hooda government of being “neck deep in corruption”, Chautala said that recently the Punjab and Haryana High Court had quashed the illegal allotment of 20 acres of prime land in Jhajjar district, near Delhi, to film-maker Subhash Ghai.

He said that other land allotments and acquisition of land by the Hooda government had also been quashed by the courts. He alleged that the Hooda government was playing into the hands of the land mafia.
