Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was Saturday night released from a private nursing home here, but the doctors advised her to take two weeks’ rest.
Banerjee was admitted to the nursing home Wednesday after she complained of breathing problems, palpitation and body pain besides low blood pressure and low pulse rate.
Since Friday, Banerjee had been expressing her wish to go back home, though the doctors were in favour of an extended hospital stay.
“The medical team has advised her to take rest for at least two weeks,” a nursing home bulletin said.
“Her vital parameters have stabilised. However, pain still persists in spite of medications and other supportive care,” the bulletin said.
Earlier tests had showed fluid deposits in Banerjee’s knee.
Banerjee and her Finance Minister Amit Mitra were Tuesday heckled by activists of the Students Federation of India, the students’ wing of the Communist Party of India-Marxist, when she went to the Planning Commission office in New Delhi for a meeting.
In Delhi on Wednesday, Banerjee said she had been on oxygen throughout Tuesday night.
