Lucknow: UP Cabinet minister Azam Khan once again used the stage for Qurrah(lottery for Hajj quota) of Hajj pilgrimage 2013 to settle score with Congress and BSP.

At a function organised at Scientific Convention Center, Azam who is also the Chairman of State Haj Committee targeted the previous chairman, Naseemuddin Siddiqui of BSP. “The previous chairman had the name of ‘Naseem’ which means morning breeze but he had the portfolio of excise (liquor). Usually people with Muslim names do not accept liquor department,” Azam stated.

To recall, Naseemuddin, had over a dozen departments under him including excise during previous Mayawati regime. Azam without naming Mayawati also stated that when women on high post start using such language then democratic norms are flouted. It was in reference to Mayawati’s recent remarks that she will break the bones of Samajwadi Party workers after coming to power. “Now she is giving example of poor law and order in the state. During her regime people from one caste were appointed in police stations,” Azam stated.
Over the recent Delhi rape case, Azam stated that Congress is ruling in Delhi and at the center. “They had given assurance in Ayodhya case and the result was December 6,” he claimed.

On Union Steel Minister Beni Prasad Verma’s outburst against Mulayam, Azam claimed that Beni is his old friend and need ‘dua’ these days.
Azam also attacked Imam Ahmed Bukhari of Jama Masjid, Delhi stating that when people sitting at high post start bargaining in the name of whole Millat(community) then it becomes filthy. Bukhari who had supported Mulayam before the elections is now on warpath and has opened front against Akhilesh Yadav.

Earlier, all the aspirants from 59 districts were selected for Hajj pilgrimage 2013 without Qurrah on Monday. It happened due to less number of applications from these districts. Qurrah was however held for 11 districts. Nearly 35000 application forms were received for the Hajj pilgrimage. The Hajj quota for Uttar Pradesh is 32214. Another 1998 applications have been kept in reserve as they belong to automatically selection category of over 70 years age of applicants.
