Guwahati: Even as bandh, road and railway blockade have become a day-to-day affair in Assam in demand of separate states, state Jamiat Ulama (ASJU) has appealed to all the groups not to declare any such kind of activities till Eid al-Fitr, the festival which is scheduled to be celebrated on August 9.
ASJU president Badruddin Ajmal said that paying respect to the sentiments of the agitating people he would like to urge upon so that they do not declare any bandh or blockade programmes before the festival which is considered as the biggest among the Muslim community.
“We appeal all to maintain peace and harmony for the next few days till Eid is celebrated. We respect the sentiments of all the communities and their demand,” Ajmal said in a statement.
