New Delhi: Domestic air passenger traffic grew 7.25 percent in July, the civil aviation ministry said Friday.
According to data furnished by the ministry, domestic traffic in July stood at 48.66 lakh, from 45.37 lakh passengers ferried during the corresponding month last year.
The passenger traffic had fallen by 1.84 percent in June and stood at 50.14 lakh, while it was 4.81 percent in May at 57.10 lakh passengers being ferried.
The passengers carried by domestic airlines during January-July 2013 was marginally up 1.20 percent at 358.8 lakh from 354.53 lakh passengers in the corresponding period of last year.
However, on a month-to-month basis, the traffic decreased by 2.95 percent as domestic airlines carried 48.66 lakh passengers in the month under review, down from 50.14 lakh in June, 2013.
IndiGo had the largest market share of 29.7 percent followed by Jet Airways (19.7), Air India’s domestic operations (19.2), SpiceJet (17.5 percent), Go Air (8.3) and Jetlite (5.6 percent).
