Dubai: A Dubai charity is promoting a culture of reusing the used clothes for charitable and environmental purposes.
The initiative of the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai has been launched for environmental and philanthropic causes. For this, containers to collect clothes from the mosques have been distributed.
The “Used Clothes Bank” initiative was launched by the department out of its social responsibility, goals and functions, said Abdullah Al Khubbi, chairman of Event and Donation Licensing Section.
The revenue collected from this drive is used in other charitable projects, such as sponsoring patients’ medical fees, indebted people, elderly, and people with special needs besides providing clothes to the needy.
