Lucknow: Rihai Manch has written to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and Home Minister on the problems faced by the victims of the Muzaffarnagar riots.
In a detailed letter addressed to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and Home Minister, Rajeev Yadav, the spokesperson of Rihai Manch has outlined the problems faced by the riot victims who are holding in thousands in rickety relief camps of Muzaffarnagar. He, under the aegis of Rihai Manch, also made a slew of demands seeking better conditions of the families reeling under various hardships.
Rihai Manch, the organization spearheading the demand for releasing innocent Muslim victims arrested in the name of terror and bringing the culprits of the murder of Khalid Mujahid to book have also been working for justice and rehabilitation of the Muzaffarnagar riot victims.
“The Muslim victims of Muzaffarnagar riots have not yet been able to get proper shelter and are living under inadequate relief shelters without roof due to which more than 40 children have died due to severe cold. AT the time those who had taken up cudgels against the powerful communal elements by registering cases against the crimes they committed are also facing heat from the police as the latter is forcing them to take their cases back. It goes without saying that such situation is a hindrance in itself in the struggle for justice,” reads the opening paragraph of the letter, written in Hindi.
The letter also points out the close relationship between the DGP Devraj Nagar and BJP Hukum Singh is a major factor behind the obstacles being created in victim’s path to justice.
“We are certain that the combination of DGP and BJP leader is trying every trick in the book to influence the investigation against the leaders, including that of BJP, and culprits involved in riots,” the letter asserts.
“Despite bringing Article 144 in effect, the DGP blatantly allowed the two mahapanchayats to take place in Lisadh and Nangla-Mandaud villages on September 5 and September 7 respectively,” the letter agitates. Not only he did stop the mahapanchayats which openly propagated an anti-Muslim atmosphere but he also did not deliver the video recordings of the gatherings to the probing officer Manoj Jha and his SIC team.
“The clout of DGP and Hukum Singh in the investigation against Thakur Sangeet Singh Som, who misguided two communities in Muzaffarnagar by circulating a video of violence in Sialkot, Pakistan which had nothing to do with Muzaffarnagar, is quite evident now as the duo made a shallow representation of the case before National Security Act Advisory Board,” claims the letter.
It is under the iniquitous influence of DGP Devraj Nagar that the police administration of Shamli and Baghpat have not recognized more than 50 murders under communal violence and tried to weaken the case, says the letter.
“Another classic example of the police-perpetrator nexus is delay in filing a case against Som and Rana for updating Facebook status from jail at Ameenabad police station in Lucknow even after 20 days the record the act was made available,” the letter reads.
“We demand that DGP Devraj Nagar, who shares a cordial relation with all those who took part in inciting the riot, be removed from the investigation so that a fair probe could be launched afresh under CBI to deal with the culprits and also to investigate the clandestine role of the members of police fraternity,” the letter protests.
