New Delhi : The cabinet Thursday approved a scheme with an outlay of Rs.16,840 crore to achieve a growth rate of 7.2 percent in the horticulture sector during the 12th plan.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved the “Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture” that would also generate employment opportunities for skilled and unskilled workers in rural and urban areas, a statement said.
The cabinet committee also approved the continuation of the ongoing state Plan Scheme of Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana in the 12th plan (2012-13 to 2016-17) with an outlay of Rs.63,246 crore.
The committee further approved implementation of the ongoing centrally-sponsored “Livestock Health and Disease Control” scheme in the 12th Plan with certain modifications at an investment of Rs.3,114 crore.
