Journalist Mazhar Farooqui wins top investigative award at Sharjah

    Sharjah: Indian journalist Mazhar Farooqui won the Best Investigative Report Award at first-ever Sharjah Government Communication Award.

    Farooqui who is the Deputy Editor at XPRESS, a sister publication of Gulf Today newspaper, is well-known for his investigative work won the award for revealing how schools in Dubai go to extreme lengths to get top ratings from education regulator.

    Talking to TwoCircles.net, Farooqui expressed his happiness over winning the award. “”It’s an big honour indeed, more so because it’s an award for investigative journalism constituted by the government itself.”

    Mazhar Farooqui is very active in social work. He is one of the founders of Aaghaz Foundation, an initiative to eradicate literacy among Indian Muslims.
