Abu Dhabi : The State Security Circuit of the Federal Supreme Court in Abu Dhabi announced Tuesday that it will issue its verdict in the case of the Muslim Brotherhood cell Jan 21, 2014, and has requested defence lawyers to present written pleading one week before that date.
The court held Tuesday its fifth hearing during which defence lawyers presented oral statements, calling for the acquittal of the accused.
Fifteen accused appeared before presiding judge Mohammed Al Jarah Al Tanaiji while nine others were absent.
Tuesday’s session was attended by two lawyers of the accused, 13 representatives of the media, four representatives of civil society organisations – two from the Emirates Human Rights Association, one each from the Emirates Jurists Lawyers Association, and the Emirates Writers’ Union – six relatives of the accused and a representative of the Egyptian embassy.
