Chandigarh : The region’s dry spell since October finally ended with widespread rain across Punjab and in Chandigarh in the past 12 hours, Met Office here said Sunday.
Chandigarh and its surrounding areas received light to moderate rainfall since late Saturday night, and was continuing Sunday morning.
“Rainfall has been recorded in Chandigarh and several places in Punjab, including Amritsar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Patiala,” Met Office director Surinder Paul said Sunday.
Rainfall was also recorded at some places in Haryana.
“The rain is welcome. This will help people overcome problems related to throat and cold due to the prolonged dry spell,” physician Rajiv Sharma said.
The region is likely to experience more rain in the next 24 hours, said the officials.
