AMU students disappointed with President for not mentioning concerns of University in his speech

    Aligarh: Several students of the Aligarh Muslim University are disappointed with President Pranab Mukharjee for not mentioning concerns of University in his speech on his recent visit to the campus.

    A students’ organisation Sir Syed Minority Foundation of India, General secretary Md. Perwez Siddiqui said in a press conference that the AMU fraternity was impatiently waiting for the President and expected him to announce some “gift” from him. He also inaugurated the Social Science Cyber Library.

    Perwez was disappointed that the President Mukharjee did not even mention the name of AMU founder Sir Syed Ahmad Khan in his whole speech.

    Minority status of AMU is pending in the Supreme Court and several students had expected some positive announcement from the President.

    AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Zameer Uddin Shah had also forwarded 10000 signatures of students in support of minority character collected by Sir Syed Minority Foundation and a booklet named “Quest for Justice.”

    Perwez was disappointed that the President did not even acknowledge that in his speech.
