New Delhi : Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar Wednesday urged states to enhance central allocation for livestock and fisheries development from 18 per cent to 25 percent.
“Efforts need to be stepped up to utilise funds allocated to the states from 18 to 25 percent,” Pawar said while addressing state ministers of animal husbandry, dairying and fisheries at a national conference.
He said the central government aims to increase the annual milk production to about 180 million tonnes by 2021-22.
This will be achieved by increasing milch animal productivity by scientific breeding and nutrition programmes supported by effective control of animal diseases, he said.
