Khandey may be J&K’s new chief secretary

Jammu : Iqbal Khandey may be appointed the new Jammu and Kashmir chief secretary, official sources said Thursday.

The post has fallen vacant following the appointment of incumbent Madhav Lal as the secretary, ministry of micro, amall and medium enterprises. Khandey’s appointment is likely to be cleared in next weeks’ cabinet meeting in Jammu.

Madhav Lal, 1977 batch, Jammu and Kashmir cadre Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, was the chief secretary of the state for a little over two years.

Ministerial sources said that Iqbal Khandey, a 1978 IAS officer, currently the financial commissioner in the Jammu and Kashmir government, is likely to be appointed the next chief secretary of the state.
