New Delhi: The families of victims of the 2001 parliament attack will write to President Pranab Mukherjee to get back the bravery awards returned by them earlier, Maninderjit Singh Bitta, former Indian Youth Congress chief, said Saturday.

“The families of the victims of the parliament attack will write to the president to get back their bravery awards, which they had returned eight years ago to then president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam,” said Bitta, who survived an assassination bid in the mid-1990s and now heads the All India Anti-Terrorist Front.

The families had returned the medals to protest the delay in hanging of the attack conspirator Afzal Guru, and now want these back.

He demanded setting up of an anti-terrorist military court to deal with terrorists like Afzal Guru.

Bitta’s statement came on the day of the execution of parliament attack plotter Afzal Guru.
