IOS to present lifetime achievement award to Maulana Saeed-ur-Rahman Azmi Nadvi

Bhopal, February 13: Maulana (Dr.) Saeed-ur-Rahman Azmi Nadvi will be conferred upon with fifth IOS (Institute of Objective Studies) Lifetime Achievement Award at a function to be held on February 15 after Maghrib Namaz at the Constitution Club in New Delhi.

The felicitation function would be presided over by Maulana Syed Rabey Hasni Nadvi, Rector Nadwatul Ulema, Lucknow, while Maulana Syed Mohammad Nizamuddin, general secretary All India Muslim Personal Law Board, would be chief guest on the occasion. Prof. Waseem Akhtar, Vice Chancellor Integral University, Lucknow, will present “Spasnama” to Maulana (Dr.) Saeed-ur-Rahman Azmi Nadvi. Maulan Khalid Husain Nadvi will welcome the guests on the occasion.


IOS chairman Dr. Manzoor Alam along with noted Muslim cleric luminaries namely Maulana Syed Wali Rahmani, Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, Maulana Ateeq Ahmad Bastavi, Maulana Abdullah Mughaisi and Maulana Syed Salman Alhusaini and others will grace the function.

A 20-minutes documentary on his life and achievements would be shown during the award-giving function. The 78-year-old Maulana Dr. Azmi is editor of al-Ba’as Islami, principal of Nadwatul Ulema and chancellor of Integral University, Lucknow.

Maulana (Dr.) Seed-ur-Rahman Azmi Nadvi was born on May 14, 1934 at Mau, Azamgarh. After getting initial education at Mau, he came to Nadwatul Ulema in 1952 for higher studies. He went to Iraq in 1958 for studies and Jamia Azhar, Cairo, on a specific educational and research mission in 1978. He has more than a dozen books in Arabic and Urdu to his credit.

Meanwhile, the decision to felicitate Maulana (Dr.) Saeed-ur-Rahman Azmi Nadvi with fifth IOS Lifetime Achievement Award was taken by the Governing Council of the IOS at its 26th Annual Meeting on December 8 last. This award carries a cheque of Rs. One lakh, a memento and a citation.
