Islamabad : Unidentified gunmen shot dead a journalist in Pakistan’s restive tribal region Wednesday, local media reported.
Malik Mumtaz was working for Geo Television and Jang group of newspapers in North Waziristan tribal region. He was also filing reports for Pashto-language Khyber television, Xinhua reported, quoting a report.
Mumtaz was returning home when the gunmen fired at his vehicle, killing him on the spot, Geo TV said.
TV anchor Hamid Mir said that he had been receiving threats.
No group claimed responsibility yet and the family said they did not have personal enmity with anyone.
Tribal Union of Journalists condemned the murder.
