Islamabad to set up bird park

By IANS,

Islamabad : The Pakistani capital will soon develop an aviary over 15,000 square metres of land that would feature common as well as rare birds like pheasants, parrots, doves, partridges and water fowls.

The Capital Development Authority will create the “Walk-in-Aviary” at the Lake View Park over 3.8 acres of land, five years after it was proposed in 2007, the Associated Press of Pakistan reported.

At that time, the project could not move ahead due to the authority’s poor financial condition.

Around 100 species of birds would be brought from local markets as well as imported from different countries, an official said.

The park would also help in securing employment for many people including veterinarians, guides, guards, bird-keepers, sweepers and gardeners.

Close-circuit cameras will be installed in the aviary and visitors will be thoroughly checked before being allowed to enter.
