Mumbai: Terming the killing of two Indian soldiers by the Pakistan Army as “demoralising” for the Indian armed forces, the Shiv Sena Wednesday demanded the resignation of Defence Minister A.K. Antony.
“Why do we need such a defence minister if such incidents happen? The Shiv Sena and the entire country want Antony’s resignation. He must quit,” said party MP and spokesperson Sanjay Raut.
He also urged India to give a fitting reply to Pakistan.
“If they killed two of our solders, we should reply by killing 40 of their soldiers,” Raut said.
Raut said that if such unprovoked and brutal attacks took place during peace time, it could demoralise Indian soldiers and they would not be able to fight during an actual war.
Raut said it was ironic that while Pakistan cricket team was playing in India, Indian soldiers were being killed by the Pakistan Army.
Indian officials said Pakistani soldiers sneaked into Jammu and Kashmir Tuesday under the cover of a thick fog and killed the two Indian soldiers and wounded a third.
Pakistan, however, has denied that its troops crossed into the state or killed Indian soldiers.
