New Delhi: A woman and her brother were arrested for allegedly killing her paramour as he wanted to develop a relationship with her daughter, police said Wednesday.
The woman — who is in her 30s — and her brother Rakesh, 24, were arrested Tuesday from west Delhi’s Uttam Nagar for killing a 35-year-old driver working with Delhi Jal board.
Inder’s body was found by a passer-by in a suitcase wrapped with a quilt in west Delhi’s Bindapur Jan 6 night. His throat had been slit by a sharp weapon.
Mobile records of the deceased provided a clue to investigators as there were frequent calls between the victim and the woman.
She confessed to the murder and told investigators that the deceased had helped her financially on several occasions.
“The deceased developed a physical relationship with the woman. Then Inder started eyeing her daughter. When he did not desist after repeated warnings to stay away from the daughter, he was killed,” said Anil Kumar Ojha, additional commissioner of police.
“The woman offered the victim a cup of tea laced with sleeping pills Jan 6. When Inder felt sleepy, Rakesh slit his throat with a knife. They stuffed the body in a suitcase wrapped with a quilt and dumped it in Dwarka’s J.J. colony,” Ojha added.
