Islamabad: Mobile phone services that had been suspended indefinitely early Monday in Pakistan’s port city of Karachi over security concerns were resumed after nearly 10 hours.
Acting on the directives of the Interior Minister Rehman Malik, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) issued instructions to all cellphone companies pertaining to the resumption of mobile phone services in the city, Dawn News reported.
Mobile phone services had been suspended indefinitely in Karachi whereas the blocked phone services were resumed in Lahore during early Monday.
PTA sources said mobile phone services were suspended in Karachi at 2 a.m. Monday over security concerns until further notice and that no schedule was stated regarding the resumption of services.
