Development work to start in 91 Delhi colonies

By IANS,

New Delhi : Development work will start soon in the 91 recently regularised colonies on Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and forest land in the capital, a Delhi government official said Tuesday.

The colonies are among 205 colonies on ASI and Forest Land which were regularised by the Delhi government Jan 5.

While 157 colonies are on the land belonging to the ASI, 48 have mushroomed on forest land.

The Congress government in Delhi had issued provisional regularisation certificates to over 1,600 illegal colonies in 2008 ahead of the state assembly polls.

However, the move hung fire till 2012 when Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit took up the matter with the central government and got a go-ahead for 917 unauthorised colonies to be regularised September last year.
