Guwahati : A CRPF trooper was killed and an Assam Police constable injured when armed Karbi Peoples’ Liberation Tigers (KPLT) militants ambushed a security forces patrol in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district Thursday, police said.
The attack took place at Koilamati village of Bokajan subdivision in the district.
“The KPLT militants ambushed a patrolling party of police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) around 4 p.m. today (Thursday). While one CRPF jawan was killed, one constable of the Assam Police was also injured during the incident,” said Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) S.N. Singh.
An operation has been launched in the area following the incident, he said.
Earlier in the day, police arrested three cadres of the KPLT from Hamren in the district when they came to accept extortion money from a businessman there.
