New Delhi : The North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) plans to construct a commercial tower near Azadpur Metro station, a senior civic officer said Friday.
“The tower will be a trade centre of the NDMC, which will be leased to government agencies or multi-nationals to run their offices from,” the official told IANS.
The construction work will commence by the end of this year. The estimated cost of the building is around Rs.800 crore.
“The space for the building is around two lakh square metre, which is approximately double the built-up floor area of the Civic Centre,” said an officer.
The tallest MCD Civic Centre at Minto Road in central Delhi was constructed at a cost of Rs.600 crore and inaugurated in 2010, the official added.
The 28-storey building houses the head offices of the NDMC and South Delhi Municipal Corporation of Delhi.
