Four killed in Indonesia landslide

Jakarta : At least four people died in a landslide triggered by heavy rains in Indonesia Sunday, while 20 others were still missing, officials said.

The disaster occurred around 6.45 a.m. in Agam district of West Sumatra, Xinhua reported.

Rescuers found the bodies of four people.

The landslide hit 15 houses, trapping as many as 20 people under the debris, said Ade Edward, spokesman of the disaster management and mitigation agency in West Sumatra.

Policemen and soldiers with heavy machinery were at the site evacuating people, he said.

Heavy rains since Friday triggered floods and landslides in many parts of the region.
