Pakistani man survives acid attack

By IANS,

Islamabad : A 29-year-old banker, known for his “good looks”, has miraculously survived an acid attack here in the Pakistani capital, a doctor said.

Murad Ameer Shah, a resident of posh sector E-11, opened the front door to his house when a man threw a bottle of acid at him, the Dawn reported.

“The door bell rang and when I opened the door, a stranger threw a bottle of acid on me,” Shah told the daily.

As the acid took time to seep in, Shah initially did not feel the burn, and ran after the man who tried to escape with an accomplice on a motorbike.

Other people caught the acid-thrower but his accomplice escaped.

Shah was taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Burn Centre where he was treated for third degree burns.

PIMS doctor Tariq Iqbal said Shah was “suffering from 25 percent critical third-degree burns involving upper body parts, including one side of the face” but he will survive.

The man who threw the acid has been identified as a sweeper employed in the same bank where Shah works.
