Shimla: Some parts of Himachal Pradesh Saturday experienced heavy rains with Palampur town recording the highest amount – 134 mm – in the state, the met office said. More showers are in store.

“Some areas in Kangra, Mandi and Una districts experienced very heavy spells of rainfall since Friday,” an official at the local meteorological department told IANS.

He said heavy to very heavy rainfall would occur at some places in the state till Sunday.

According to Met terminology, heavy rainfall ranges from 64.5 to 124.4 mm in a day, and “very heavy” rain from 124.5 to 244.4 mm.

Official sources said tourist destinations like Sangla, Pooh, Kaza and Nako in Kinnaur district have been still cut off from the rest of the state since the June 16-18 downpour that triggered massive landslides, blocking many roads.

Meanwhile, Jogindernagar town recorded 128 mm rain, state’s second highest precipitation, followed by Baijnath (120 mm), Amb (86 mm) and Dharamsala (65 mm).
