Islamabad: At least three people were killed and two others wounded Saturday evening in a bomb blast in Pakistan’s southern port city of Karachi, police said.
Superintendent of Police Imran Shaukat said that the incident took place when a group of five people were busy in assembling a bomb in a house located in the Patel Para area of Karachi, reported Xinhua.
At least three people were killed on the spot and two others injured.
According to the bomb disposal squad, the miscreants were making a bomb with a refined quality of explosives, ball bearings and nut bolts but it exploded due to short-circuit.
In another incident earlier in the evening, at least one person was killed and three others were injured when unidentified miscreants targeted the vehicle of metropolitan commissioner with a remote-controlled bomb in the Hassan Square area of the city.
The commissioner escaped with minor wounds at his legs while his guard succumbed to injuries in hospital.
