Raipur : Chhattisgarh earned a whopping Rs.4,185 crore as sales tax over the past three years from petrol, diesel and cooking gas, the state assembly was informed Wednesday.
In a written reply to Congress member Ravindra Choubey, Commercial Tax Minister Amar Agrawal informed the assembly that from petrol the government had earned sales tax of Rs.322.97 crore in 2010-11, Rs.416.88 crore in 2011-12, and Rs.368.22 crore by Jan 31 during fiscal year 2012-13.
The government earned from diesel sales tax Rs.936.96 crore in 2010-11, Rs.1,137.72 crore in year 2011-12 and Rs.970.45 crore by Jan 31 in 2012-13, he said.
The state collected Rs.9.84 crore from sales tax on cooking gas in year 2010-11, Rs.11.62 crore in 2011-12 and Rs.10.90 crore by Jan 31 in 2012-13, the minister said.
