Crime sheet of Raja Bhaiyya

Lucknow: Former minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya is not a new name in crime world. At one point of time as many as 48 cases were registered against him, although he has been acquitted in 22 cases which include the infamous Prevention of Terrorist Activities Act (POTA).

In 12 other cases, police has given him clean chit due to lack of evidence. Presently 14 cases are pending against him. It also includes the conspiracy to the murder of Kunda CO Ziaul Haq.

Before entering the political arena, he was known as Toofan Singh. The first case was registered against him in 1989 for arson and murderous attack. The case was registered at Kunds police station under section 147, 148, 149 and 307. After that there was a flood of cases against him when he became active in politics.

He had only five cases registered against him, before he joined politics. A maximum 13 cases were registered against him during Mayawati regime.

The story began on October 25, 2002 when a case was registered at Jethwara police station. Thereafter cases of murder, loot, gangster and POTA were registered against him. He was, however, acquitted in POTA case and several other cases.

Prsently police is investigating the Ziaul Haq murder conspiracy case and a gangster case registered at Kunda kotwali. For the remaining, gangster, loot, attempt to murder cases are going on in court.
