New Delhi : A delegation of the European Research Council (ERC) is visiting leading India universities to attract scholars to take up research projects in the European Union, a statement said.

Led by ERC secretary general Donald Dingwell, the team held meeting with key representatives and researchers from leading universities and research institutions in Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune and New Delhi.

The ERC provides research grants to the tune of Rs.24.68 crore per grant to researchers from across the world across all disciplines.

“The climate of science, education and research in India is very positive and we are confident than ever that Indian researchers will respond to this remarkable opportunity,” said Dingwell.

He said the ERC aims to support “global brain circulation” and to bring the best researchers together to exchange both ideas and experience.

Since its launch in 2007, ERC has awarded grants to 3,400 scientists, including 13 Indians, both early and senior.
