Raipur : The Chhattisgarh government said Friday that industrial units had made direct purchases of 1,842 hectares of agricultural land and obtained another 903 acres through the land aquisition route in Raigarh district.
In a written reply to Congress member Nandkumar Patel in the state assembly, Revenue Minister Dayaldas Baghel said 2,745 hectares were acquired through direct purchases and land acquisition during the past four years in Raigarh district.
Baghel said that in 2008-09, industrial units bought 677.409 hectares through direct purchase and 40.752 hectares was acquired.
In 2009-10, 563.676 hectares was bought through direct purchase and 199.669 hectares was acquired. In 2010-11, 428.88 hectares was bought through direct purchase and 118.306 hectares was acquired.
In 2011-12, 172.910 hectares was through direct purchase and 544.545 hectares was acquired.
In all, 2,745 hectares of land was acquired in coal-rich Raigarh district for industrial and professional use. The revenue earned from the diversion fee during 2011-12 and 2012-13 was Rs.4.56 crore, he added.
