Congress tries to cash in on BJP-MNS rift

By IANS,

Mumbai:Taking on both the BJP and the MNS, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson Sachin Sawant said that while those two parties squabble, the public would decide their fate in upcoming elections.

On Sunday, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray had alleged that Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) functionary and Leader of Opposition in the legislative assembly Eknath Khadse had arrived at a “settlement” on issues to be raised while the house is in session.

Thackeray had alleged, Sunday, that opposition parties raise questions during the day, and in the evening agree on a “settlement”.

A seemingly upset Khadse had later said that he would not give any importance to Thackeray’s baseless tirade.

Sawant, on the other hand, said that while Thackeray has been involved in many “settlements” in the past, Khadse was only trying to put a veil over allegations made by Thackeray.

“Khadse should have asked for proof from Thackeray; he should have tendered an apology if proven guilty. But both parties are wavering from the point,” Sawant said.

“The public is smart. They know both parties. They will decide who is the best and elect the most deserving candidate and party,” he added.
