New Delhi : Professor M. Aslam has been appointed as the vice-chancellor of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), an official statement said Wednesday.
Aslam, currently a professor at the varsity’s School of Continuing Education, has been appointed for a period of five years.
He functioned as acting vice-chancellor from October 2011 to July 2012.
“Aslam has rich and varied experience both at national and international levels and in his 35 year career in the field, has spent about 21 years as professor at IGNOU,” the statement said.
Aslam served as visiting faculty to as many as 16 institutions in India and abroad.
He is a Fellow of the Economic Development Institute of the World Bank and has authored/jointly authored seven books and other writings.
He has been consultant to various international/UN bodies including the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
