Hoshiarpur (Punjab) : A terrorism plot was busted with the arrest of three people, including the mother and sister of a Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) leader in this Punjab district, police said Thursday.
Senior police officers said Shalinder Kaur, 70, and Kulwant Kaur, mother and daughter of US-based terrorist Balwinder Singh Dhussi, were arrested from their house in their village near Mahilpur town, 120 km from Chandigarh.
The third person arrested, Ranjit Singh Rana, is a granthi (Sikh priest) in Kohar village in Jalandhar district.
Police recovered five pistols, one revolver and 80 rounds of ammunition from their house.
Jalandhar zone Inspector General of Police (IGP) Gurpreet Deo said the arrests had shown that terrorists were not finding much of a base or members to support them and were now using their own family members and relatives to revive terrorism in Punjab.
She said the Punjab Police were looking for three more people, including Dhussi, in this case.
Deo said police had initiated proceedings for the extradition of Dhussi from the US.
Dhussi’s name had figured in connection with a bomb blast in a bus in Jalandhar city, 150 km from Chandigarh, in April 2006 in which three people, including a police officer, were killed.
