Jamia Urdu Aligarh celebrates 136th Birth Anniversary of Allama Iqbal

    Aligarh: Renowned poet, writer and philosopher Allama Mohammed Iqbal was not only a great reformer and critic but also a humanist. He had devoted his whole life to interpreter Islamic traditions and teachings and tried his best to unite Muslims socially and politically said Farhat Ali Khan OSD Jamia Urdu Aligarh while chairing a function to celebrate 136th birth anniversary of the poet. He pointed out that some of the intellectuals failed to understand and elaborate correctly the philosophical thoughts of Allama Iqbal in respect of nationalism. They did not do justice with him.

    Director Jasim Mohammad said, “A section of the intellectuals treat Allama Iqbal as the founder of Pakistan and a supporter of two nation theory which is very unfortunate. Challenging the conception he said that nobody can cite any speech or couplet which may indicate that Allama Iqbal was not a patriot. He further added that Allama Iqbal served Urdu language in a historic way and put it on international canvas.

    Chairman of Mushawarti Council Prof. Razaullah Khan said some people crate history and Allama had also made a history during his own lifetime.

    Registrar Shamoon Raza Naqvi said, during the lifetime of Allama Iqbal, the socio-political situation of Indian sub-continent was very volatile. Iqbal had tried to give direction to the Muslims towards progress and development. Controller Rizwan Ali Khan said philosophers and writers cannot be aloof from ground level situations of their times and we should not hesitate to accept that Allama Iqbal was basically and Indian. Qadir Malik, Aqeel A Jafri also expressed their views on the personality of Allama Iqbal.

    A resolution was passed unanimously demanding that Indian government should observe Birth Anniversary of Allama Iqbal officially as he was a great Indian.
