Iraqi president’s chief bodyguard killed

    Baghdad: Some unidentified gunmen shot dead Iraqi President Jalal Talabani’s chief bodyguard at his home early Wednesday, Xinhua reported.

    According to a website of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, a Kurdish party headed by Iraqi president, the incident occurred in Kurdistan region of the country when two gunmen broke into Colonel Sarawr Hama Rashed’s home in Sulaimaniyah city, some 330 km from Baghdad.

    They and shot him in front of his wife, it added.

    Talabani is in Germany for medical treatment since early 2012 after suffering a stroke.
