United Nations : United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon Sunday welcomed an interim agreement on Iran’s nuclear programme and urged the governments concerned to do everything possible to continue negotiations, a statement issued by the UN’s press service reads.
In a statement released late night by his spokesperson, Ban congratulated the negotiators in Geneva for progress made on “what could turn out to be the beginnings of a historic agreement for the peoples and nations of the Middle East region and beyond”.
He urged the governments of Iran and the P5+1 nations – Britain, China, France, Russia and the US plus Germany – involved to “build on this encouraging start” and to create mutual confidence.
