New Delhi : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sunday lauded President Pranab Mukherjee’s tough talk against Pakistan over terror issue and said he spoke for people of the country and the government should take a lesson.
In an interview to a Turkish daily, the president Saturday said, “We demand of Pakistan that the infrastructures created by the terrorist outfits in your territories, dismantle them! Keep your commitments to India, don’t allow terrorists to use your land to perpetrate their nefarious activities on India”.
“Is the government going to take some lessons from Rashtrapatiji who has really spoken for the people of the country and their feelings that Pakistan must dismantle the infrastructure of terror?” BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said, talking to reporters here.
“Talks and terrorism cannot go hand in hand. I regret to say that centre is yet to learn the lesson rightly,” he said.
Prasad said this in reaction to Pakistan’s High Commissioner Salman Bashir’s remarks made in Hyderabad that talks should continue irrespective of what was happening at the border.
Bashir said at the recent meeting between the prime ministers of the two countries in New York, it was decided that Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) should be asked to give suggestions to ensure the ceasefire agreed to in 2008 is respected.
