Aligarh: Sir Syed Day was organised by Aligarh District Cricket Association in the lawns of Shubham Samagam marriage hall in which Old Boys of AMU from different cities participated.
Speaking on the occasion Chief Guest Safdar Hussain Khan, Chairman, Minority Commission Delhi said that the role of teachers is very important for the tarbiyat (training) of the students and that’s why everyone must respect the teachers. He said that AMU is the best example of composite culture of India as the campus has always remained peaceful, even when the city had been burning in communal flames.

Vice Chancellor of AMU, Lt. General (Rtd.) Zameeruddin Shah, said that Sir Syed wanted to educate Indian masses especially Muslims and he not only wanted to produce educated people but he wanted to produce complete human being full of moral values and secular outlook. He said that he is trying his best to produce good human beings from Aligarh Muslim University. He further said that he is paying special attention for increasing the sports activity in the campus.
Dr. Shakeel Samdani, Senior Faculty of AMU said that the most important aspect of Sir Syed ‘s personality was his sincerity and commitment. Sir Syed was a far sighted and visionary, by writing Asbab-e-Baghawate Hind at a time when it was unimaginable to utter a single word against the British, he proved his determination to address the problems faced by the country at that time. Sir Syed had a multi-faceted personality but he was an educationist and social worker.

Dr. Samdani urged the audience to undertake social work and involve themselves in solving community problems. He congratulated the organisers for organising such a wonderful program.
Prakash D, IG Aligarh Zone said that Sir Syed’s personality teaches us to be forward looking in our vision and outlook. He also expressed his happiness that he has been lucky enough to spend so many years in the city of Sir Syed.
The program was also addressed by Dr. Arif Ali Khan, Vivek Bansal, MLC and Mujahid Kidwai. The program was conducted by Dr Shariq Aqil, Fasahat Ali Khan, Chief executive and advisor of District Cricket association welcomed the guests and Naseem Akhtar proposed the vote of thanks.
The prominent personalities present in the program were Mrs Sabiha Simi Shah, Sharukh Shamshad, Registrar, AMU, Mrs Rasheeda Shamshad, Mridul Agarwal, Abdul Latif Khan, Arjun Singh, Mutahir Zaidi, Arif Sheikh(Mumbai), Shamshad Khan(Lucknow),Pankaj Saraswat, Dr Shoeb Zaheer, Anjum Tasneem, Yashfeen Ali. Many important sport personalities were honoured by dignitaries.
