Jamia students condemn Statement implication of six EFLU students

New Delhi: Jamia Students Solidarity Forum, has condemned the framing of six students ((four students from the SC/ST/OBC communities and two women students) of English and Foreign language University, Hyderabad, for allegedly “promoting enmity between different groups on ground of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc. and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony…” with the Osmania police station.

In a statement, JSSF said, “We believe this is a clear case of fabrication of facts carried out under the pressure of right wing hooligans and their fascists’ cohorts such as ABVP.”

Some students of EFLU allegedly celebrated Asura week. JSSF is further concerned that once again, as happened in the past and very recently in the FTII campus, the saffronites in Khaki have openly and brazenly supported the right wing hooligans in the latter’s attempt to create mayhem and constraining all which is progressive through providing naked impunity to these hate mongers.

“In our view, the EFLU administration should have resorted to a more mature and holistic measure even in case , they sensed a possible mishandling of the event or any negative message being originated thereof, a University level enquiry following all the due procedures should have been instigated by the administration as per Supreme Court ruling ,” the statement read.

Students ought on to ordinarily be subjected to police action unless it be unavoidable, JSSF added.

JSSF has appealed to the EFLU administration to look into the matter from a neutral perspective and act in the best interest of the broader section of student community and promote a culture of open spaces and greater debates in the Campus which JSSF thinks is the only way forward towards resolving any such issue concerning the relation between the student community and the administration.
