Guwahati: Over a thousand devotees, both men and women, attended the Deeni Jalsa Waz Mehfil or a spiritual discourse programme held at Dargah Hafizia Madrassa of Shah Jalaluddin Auliya at Dwaranda, Panjabari Road in Guwahati on Sunday.
The daylong programme commenced with recitation of the Holy Quran followed by Quran recitation and ghazal competition among students from different educational institutions in the city.
The deliberations of the afternoon commenced with a discourse from Maulana Mahbubur Rahman of Kalaigaon Jamia Islamia who focussed upon the importance of mercy and forgiveness in Islam. He said those who forgive their adversaries would receive bounties from the Almighty on the Day of Judgment. He also said that there need not be any conflict between madrassa education and modern education. Both sections can share their knowledge and both would be benefited by this exercise.
Maulana Ajmal Hussain Kasimi of Khanowa High Madrassa Darrang dwelt upon different aspects of the Quran. He said, “Quran is the message of Allah, conveyed to Prophet Mohammad (pbuh), through the angel Jibrail. This Holy Book is unparalleled in its depth of knowledge and richness of language. Study of the Quran puts the faithful in touch with his Creator.”
Mufti Saifuddin Ahmed Bulbuli, Mohtamim, No 1 Ahmedpur Hafizia Madrassa Lakhimpur, expressed his concern about the deteriorating values among the youth of the society. He said that a recent survey by an NGO points out that elders in 60 per cent of families in our society are pained by the behaviour of youngsters in the family.
