Delhi HC grants anticipatory bail to Parth Wadia

New Delhi : The Delhi High Court Monday granted anticipatory bail to Parth Wadia, grandson of liquor baron Kishanlal Wadia, in connection with a pub brawl case.

Justice S.K. Misra granted the anticipatory bail to Parth Wadia telling him to join the investigation. He ordered him to furnish a personal bond of Rs.1 lakh and surety bond of the same amount.

Justice Misra told Parth Wadia not to leave India without the court’s permission.

“Keeping in mind the fact that the matter has been settled by the parties, the petitioner is entitled to the anticipatory bail,” the court said.

The court took into account the fact that out of 17 people arrested in the case, 16 are out on bail.

The remaining one person has not applied for the bail so far. On July 31, a trial court had dismissed Parth Wadia’s anticipatory bail plea.

On June 27, various men, including a relative of a politician, accompanied by armed bodyguards turned violent when bouncers denied them entry at night into club Keya at DLF Promenade Mall in south Delhi, police said.

Police registered two cases under charges of attempt to murder and the Arms Act – one against the bouncers and the other against the alleged mischief-makers.

Police said one of the PSOs of Parth Wadia had brandished a revolver and threatened to kill the bouncers and staff of the club.

One of the security men had also allegedly assaulted a bouncer with a sharp-edged weapon, police claimed.

Parth Wadia is accused of trying to force his way into the club with his friends and security personnel after assaulting its staff.
