Egyptian, Kuwaiti aid allowed in Gaza Strip

Cairo : Egyptian and Kuwaiti aid has been allowed into Gaza Strip via the Rafah border crossing, an official said Sunday.

The relief material includes 50 tonnes of medicine and medical aids presented by Egypt’s Pharmacists Syndicate as well as 20 tonnes of medications from the Kuwait Red Crescent, MENA reported.

Aid was allowed into the Gaza Strip after coordination with the Palestinian Red Crescent.

Egyptian and Arab assistance was previously allowed into the besieged enclave to help alleviate suffering of Gazans under the Israeli offensive.

Since Israel launched its Operation Protective Edge July 8, the lives of at least 1,938 Palestinians, mostly civilians, have perished, according to Palestinian health officials.

In Israel, 64 soldiers and three civilians were killed, according to Israeli military and police.

On Thursday, Hamas and Israel agreed to a five-day truce after several failed ceasefire agreements.
