Kolkata : Defections from the Congress party in West Bengal continued with Youth Congress state president Shaumik Hossain Friday joining the ruling Trinamool Congress.
Announcing the joining of Shaumik, son of former Congress MP Abdul Mannan Hossain, along with 27 others, Trinamool national general secretary Mukul Roy said the recent defection will severely dent Congress’ morale.
However, state Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury rubbished Roy’s claim.
Since the Trinamool came to power in the state, a host of leaders, including legislators and activists, have deserted the Congress to join the ruling party.
