Patna : The Bihar government Wednesday announced Rs.10 lakh as compensation for the family of CRPF trooper Radheshyam, who was killed in a gun battle with Maoists in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, officials said.
A pall of gloom descended at the Patna airport when Radheshyam’s body arrived Wednesday afternoon.
Food Supply Minister Shayam Razak, who was present at the airport to receive the body, said the government has decided to pay a compensation of Rs.10 lakh to his family.
Radheshyam’s father Rameshwar Ram, a retired armymen, was still in shock and unable to say much.
“We are proud of him. He sacrificed his life for the country,” he said.
Radheyshyam, a resident of Tirojpur village in Bhojpur district, is survived by his wife, three sons and a daughter.
